Using Visme to create social media graphics, ebooks and more

I have quite a few posts about Alternatives to Photoshop for creating blog and social media graphics, but I’m always looking to find new graphic tools as it’s something I get asked about a lot.

Visme reached out and offered me access to the Complete Plan to test it out the platform. Here is an introduction to the tool and my honest thoughts on it.

What is Visme?

Visme is an easy to use online tool that can be used to create presentation, infographics and other images quickly, without needing to purchase and learn other software. They have just updated the site to make it even easier to use, taking on board the feedback from users. Visme would be comparable to tools like Canva and PicMonkey.

Using Visme to Create Graphics

The main reason for Visme is to create presentations and infographics, but you can download the projects as JPG images, PNG images and PDFs so it can be used to create blog graphics, ebooks and anything else you need for you blog.

When you first login to Visme, you land on the dashboard which shows all of your existing projects. To create a new project click on Create New Visme and name your file. You’ll then see a huge selection of templates to choose from in Presentations and Infographics, or choose a blank custom size one.

From here you can choose from several preset graphic icons, text graphics, stock images, your own images, graphic charts and backgrounds. You can also add music from the stock library, and add a video from YouTube or Vimeo. Putting together graphics is quick and easy – simply select what you want to add, place it and then customise it using the toolbars. Once you’re happy you can publish it a number of different ways.

You can also save the project as a template, which would be handy if you wanted to set up a couple of blog graphic templates that you could use for each blog post by changing the image and text.

Pricing

There’s 3 different plans you can choose from – Basic (Free), Standard and Complete. The basic plan has some feature limitations, you can see those details here. The basic plan says that it add a Visme logo, which wouldn’t be very useful, I set up a second account on the basic plan and didn’t notice a logo on any images I downloaded, but if you share or embed it’s there so that’s something to keep in mind.

Overall Thoughts

There are a few similar online tools that offer more or less the same thing but are more affordable price wise, so I guess it depends on your budget, skill set and what exactly you’re looking for in a graphic editing tool. It’s a pretty good all-in-one tool for creating multiple types of graphics, you probably need to be on the Complete Plan with full features to use it regularly which is currently $16/month. Start with the Basic Plan to try Visme for free to see what you think.
