A quick look at the Gmail Tabbed Inbox update + How to revert to Priority Inbox

gmail update tabs june 2013
The new Gmail update was launched today, introducing tabs. Your messages are now sorted in categories and shown as tabs above your inbox. In the Primary tab, you will see messages from friends, family and other sources that do not fit into the other categories. In the Promotions tab, you will find deals and offers. Social tab shows all of your messages from social networks, media sharing sites and other social media website. You will find notifications such as confirmation emails, receipts and bills in the Updates tab. Finally, in the Forums tab, you will find emails from online groups, discussion boards and mailing lists. You can choose which tabs you want to appear and easily drag and drop emails from one tab to another. When setting up tabs, Gmail will show you examples from your inbox and which section they fit in to. It seems like an updated version of the category labels that were available previous. After playing around with the update for a little while, I’m not sure how I feel about it. I’m going to give it a try for a couple of days before possibly reverting back to the old look. It does look very organised and perhaps it may be handy but I had a system in place already which now doesn’t work too well. I’d love to be able to create my own tabs, that might make it better.
